These sites and support groups are a representative sampling (mostly California) without endorsement and without their knowledge. They provide details about homosexuality in general. They are apolitical, usually hold historic Christian theology, and are support groups for individuals seeking freedom from same-sex attraction issues. They approach this issue with candor and confidentiality. Support group leaders are not therapists.

Pneuma Life offers "Eternal Victim / Eternal Victor" by Donnie McClurkin, 2001. This is a truly personal testimony by one of Gospel music's favorite artists. Victims and victors both encounter conflict, contest and combat. How you handle those events classifies whether you are one or the other. Although not about homosexuality, the author's homosexuality becomes the teeth of a captivating book about overcoming adversity. - Book reviewed by Pastor DL Foster of Atlanta. His web site has African American testimonies of freedom from homosexuality.

International Healing Foundation offers "Coming Out Straight" by ex-gay psychotherapist and PFOX President, Richard Cohen. Radio personality Dr. Laura wrote the foreword, which details how to understand and heal homosexuality. - 301/805-6111

Regeneration Books, 410/661-4337 or E-Mail, sells ex-gay books and videos that can help one understand the whys and hows of homosexual behavior, as well as offer hope on exiting the lifestyle. The catalog includes materials for the homosexual or lesbian struggler, as well as materials for parents, children, teens, siblings and friends of strugglers.

AFA (American Family Association) distributes the video "It's Not Gay" where former homosexuals explain why they left the lifestyle. The video is geared towards both teens and adults. - 662/844-5036 ext. 4

"Not Afraid to Change" - This book by John Paulk details his life as an active homosexual, a male escort, a female impersonator, and finally a husband and father. Paulk's testimony is proof that gays can change.

Funk and Wagnalls Encyclopedia (unedited)

HOMOSEXUALITY , preference for members of one's own gender for purposes of sexual gratification. Female homosexuals are frequently known as lesbians. Historically, homosexuality has commanded much interest and attention. Attitudes toward such preference have varied in different epochs and among diverse cultural and subcultural groups, ranging from acceptance (as among the ancient Greeks), to measured tolerance (in Roman times), to outright condemnation. According to the Old Testament (see Leviticus. 18:22, 20:13), sex between men is "an abomination," and persons guilty of homosexuality should be put to death. This condemnation has affected the Judeo-Christian attitude toward homosexuality for centuries.
